First reaction to the PBR statement...

Those elocution lessons to stop Boy George squeaking were a waste of money, weren't they?

A more in-depth analysis may have to wait till tomorrow, as I've got a speech to write now.

In depth analysis of George Osbourne's voice. You'll need one of those bat detector thingy's to do that...

As for the economy, I do agree with the general thrust that govt must support people rather than what seems to be a 'do nothing' Tory line.

Despite some of the very large figures in the govts stimulus package, personally I'd have liked an even bigger economic stimulus, but more focussed in on taking the economy towards a stable, secure and sustainable, green future. See:

Darling and Brown are economic loons .. Rule 1: if you're in a hole stop digging - yet they're digging a pair of demented moles.

Question: I'm in debt, what do I do?
Answer: Of course you borrow more and reduce your income at the same time .. yeah that'll work

Kerry, you'll end up the same as all labour administrations - bankrupt and with nowhere to turn but to the IMF, desperately bleating for help.

I suggest you check out Kieron's posts on 'Can we start another debate?' And also the 'Stats, stats' and more stats link.

Kerry's kind of right you know Andy, the normal rules of the game don't apply when you're a government.

However, as the dear leader keeps on reminding us, this is the 'first financial crisis of the global age'.

It's the first financial crisis of floating exchange rates and derivatives that allow every Tom Dick and Harry to speculate (I earn less than the average income, have a credit rating I shot to pieces as a student and even I can take a £10k forex position by putting £50 on the table with zero risk except said £50).

In fact it's easier to Joe Punter to bet in these markets than it is to get on the bus to one of those new casinos.

Kerry is right to point out that inflation will eat up the debt, it's the only way out really, but Gordon ain't going to crank up the presses on his own and watch the £ achieve parity with the $.

He'll talk tough and wait to see what Mr Obama does - and he'll probably print more money.

What has George Osbornes voice got to do with anything? This really is the politics of the playground.
All three parties are singing from the same free market songbook and the piffle announced today will do nothing to change the fundamental insanity that is the free market ideology of Brown, Cameron and the rest. The poor are thrown a few scraps and told to buy more crap to keep the capitalist system running and make them believe the political elites are on their side.

Why bother Kerry? You could have used this post to commend your chancellor for his financial acumen, or hailed Brown for his leadership. But you just have a pop at the other team. Getting in some practise for after the next GE and you're back in the political wilderness again are we?

But then the politics of envy never dies does it?

Kerry said...

I refuse to take the views of someone called The Scumbag seriously.

And yet very vacuous

Is Gordon still listening as well? Or has he given up that along with prudence and good finiancial control http://www.labour.org.uk/brown_promises_to_listen_and_lead

Kerry, a bit late with that one, Bob Piper linked to it several days ago ... and as you know you can prove anything tou want to with stats.

The fact remains that you wouldn't run your own finances in the way that Brown is running the UK's, unless you're terminally insane which I'm sure isn't the case :))

Kerry, I've yet to see you take the views of anyone except yourself seriously.

Gordon gives us a FREE TOASTER

Re not taking anyone else's comments seriously... I refer the Hon Gentleman to the answer I gave earlier, re checking out Kieron's comments. And why not check out Glenn's blog too? (Which should not in any way be considered an endorsement, etc, as I haven't looked at it myself yet).

I see Old Holborn is still trying to use this site to up his viewing stats.

It's like he has nothing better to do...

Kerry said...

Well would you employ him?

Not a chance

Care to publish your viewing stats, Kerry?

I don't think they'll match OLd Holborns. Prove me wrong?

And as for your "first re-action", typical to play the man not the argument. I wish I could honestly say I had expected better, though!

Did someone mention viewing Stats?

Kerry said...

That's because you keep posting links on other people's sites. You're a parasite!

Andy said...

Hey Kerry, that's rich coming from someone who wants everyone in the country to be welfare-state-dependent - now that is parasitic.

Kerry said...

And your evidence for that is... what exactly?

Hacked Off said...

Your membership of the Nu-Liebore Party suffices.

One moment we're Nu-Liebore or ZanuLab, the next we're rampant socialists... I suggest you have a trawl through some of the things I've said on child poverty, helping people move from welfare into work, ensuring work is sustainable and that people are better off in work than on benefits, etc, etc. I fundamentally disagree with the notion that people who can make a contribution to society, should be allowed not to. The New Lab mantra was rights AND responsibilities.

I'll bet my last worthless pound that Kerry's stats tripled the moment she posted on the 1984 campain.

And before you start....no, nobody gave the order to swamp your blog. It's just 11 years of pent up frustration being leveled at you because you're the only MP with the courage to engage with us, and for that at least, I commend you.
