Lost in the supermarket

Damn this song title theme; I could have gone for 'Off her trolley'. I have belatedly discovered the blog of Lib Dem councillor Emma Bagley, who leads an exciting life. According to her blog profile her favourite music is: Pink, James Blunt, Madonna, and 'Coors'...... Still at least she has a blog. I'll give her credit for that. More councillors should.

I've also just been checking out Bristol Tory Boy's biog. He's apparently had a career spanning two decades. And was in the army too. That (sort of) explains why a 20-something year old would choose to be pictured in a bow tie for his Facebook photo. I guess we need to find him a new name...

My favourite recent post is 'hedges'

So much for that 'off the wall' green candidate for Bristol East!

I'm sure the Chinese are about to abandon all human rights abuse now that they know Cllr Emma Bagley even blocks out the noise from Olympics ads, switches over the telly when the Olympics comes on...

As a matter of fact I got my first paying gig in IT in 1989, so technically it's three decades. (80s, 90s, zeros). The job in question was refurbishing computer keyboards, although nowadays you can buy them brand new from Maplin for a fiver, so I don't think my skills will be called on in that regard any time soon.

I'm pleased to see you are taking advantage of your holidays, Ms McCarthy. Remember to be back to work promptly on 6th October.

So James was a Keyboard Refurbisher! It sounds a bit like a Telephone Sanitiser (the lack of whom caused the extinction of the human race in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). Hang on - didn't I recently read that computer keyboards were breeding grounds for pathogenic bacteria?

Oh, as for new names for James, how about The Keyboard Kid?

Can you come up with something a bit more urban and edgy for my new nickname (I don't know what that means, but my wife watches "Top Model" and they all seem to think edgy is a good thing.)

I'm surprised to hear the local green rep is so sceptical of reusing old equipment. Surely you've heard of the waste management hierarchy? (Hint: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

And I think you'll find it was a lack of Telephone Sanitisers that caused the destruction of the Golgafrinchan Race. They tricked the "useless third" of their population into boarding the "B Ark", which subsequently crashed on Earth making them the ancestors of humanity. Douglas Adams didn't say if the "B Ark" carried any cycling campaigners.

James, I hate to have to break this to you, but if you want to be "edgy" you're going to have to ditch the bow tie!

P.S. I am in the office. Your leader is on his second holiday already.

Or if you really want to keep the bow tie, how about 'the Bristol Bouncer'?

P.S. Still in the office!

One of the the only things more worrying than a politician in general is a politician in the office doing something ...

Thanks for the correction on the Golgafrinchans, James. That's what comes of not doing your homework properly (thinking that nobody else was going to bother to check the reference either, but of course James always does).

As for new names, I'm not really up to speed on urban and edgy either, but the Barlovian Reaction might be a good title for James' blog.

Should we nickname James Barlow 'Ken' (after Ken Barlow)? I think its in accordance with his 'edginess'. Ken also goes along nicely with 'Keyboard Kid'.
