Sea kittens

From today's Atticus in the Sunday Times:

Animal rights campaigners have targeted a Porthcawl chip shop, calling on it to rename its fish as “sea kittens”. The activists believe that customers confronted with a cuddly sea kitten will be put off their fish supper. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) asked owner Huw Jones to change all mentions of fish and to rename the shop as Finnegan’s Sea Kitten Bar. – South Wales Echo.

Why is is that vegetarians are quite happy to eat fish and seafood?
Fish have feelings too, and die a slow death by being suffocated once netted and landed.

Hypocrisy!

Cute furry animals? Thanks -you've just reminded me to check the squirrel trap.

Sea kittens sound even more delicious than fish.

Seriously, I am struggling to find the words to describe how truly ridiculous this is.

Talk about damaging the cause. I'd eat fish and meat whatever the hell it was called.

Yellowbelly. They don't. Some such people might choose to call themselves vegetarians, but they're not.

Can I just place on the record that I think the idea of renaming fish (which are generally smelly, slimy, scaly things) 'sea kittens' is very silly too. Although I like the idea of real sea kittens in their snorkelling gear... that would be cool.
