He'd send in the army

Been a while since we've heard from James, our very own Bristol Tory Boy, so thought I'd check out his website for his unique take on recent international events. He reveals to his reader(s) that Bristol and Tbilisi are twinned - which is very apt as "both cities are constantly assailed by ex-communists. Fortunately the local bunch don't have tanks."

Glad to see you're keeping things in perspective James.

If the bristol Labour Group had tanks, surely they would have sold them by now - on the expensive advice of KPMG - to fund a team of Anti-homophobic Bullying Strategy Workers for eight year olds; a series of breastfeeding workshops in deprived areas and a promotional cycling DVD for Muslims?

I'm not quite sure where you got the title for your post, as the whole point of my article was that I wouldn't send in the army.

Now why did you pick a picture of a destroyed Georgian tank for your post? Not bragging, surely?

Has reporting from Georgia been fair qand balanced? I've no idea personnally, but one of my green friends posted this (a copy of an email message he'd received)...

...which has prompted me to investigate further. Any comments anyone??

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Russia invades Georgia and it's all the US's fault.

Although no doubt the Jooz, the Zionists and those evil scheming Neo-Cons who want to enslave the entire world have had a hand in it too?

And yes, of course, they've got the western media in on the whole thing, while the Russian media tells the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth right?

Did it all begin with a Russian invasion, pure and simple?? No doubt at all in my view that the way Russia has behaved is totally unacceptable, massively over the top, extremely violent and unjust especially in the way civilians have been affected. However, I've genuinely found it hard to get reliable information on how the whole thing actually kicked off.

There seems to have been various border skirmishes between Georgians and South Ossetians/Russian peacekeepers at various times.

This resulted in the Georgians attempting to reassert control over the region.

But it then turned out, rather conveniently, that there was a Russian armoured division just over the border ...
